Encounter and Listening 2018

The Libero and Zora Polojaz Foundation shall organize a psychoanalytic seminar on

Encounter and Listening

Trieste, 17.11.2018

at the Narodni dom – IUSLIT University of Trieste - Via F. Filzi n. 14

Encounter and listening are two fundamental features of human relationships that take place in a context of space and time. ‘Encounter’ is characterized by two opposing elements: the etymology of the word introduces both the sense of moving toward, as well as counter to someone.

‘Listening’ implies that one speaks to and with someone. Since its beginnings, psychoanalysis has shed light on the centrality of the ‘talking cure’, which it has then deepened on intra-psychic, interpersonal and transsubjective dimensions. The encounter, which is structured by the setting, fosters an explorative process that involves both participants through an exchange of affects and thoughts. The meeting aims to explore the various levels involved in the psychoanalytic encounter and listening.

Scientific committee: Andrea Braun, Paolo Fonda, Vlasta Polojaz (Psychoanalysts of Società Psicoanalitica Italiana).
