Psychoanalytic Thinking and Experience of War

The international meeting entitled “Psychoanalytic Thought and War Experiences” was organized in Padua by the Veneto Center for Psychoanalysis together with the Libero and Zora Polojaz Foundation and under the sponsorship of the Italian Psychoanalytic Society.

The conference was interested in two war-affected territories (Ukraine and Ex-Yugoslavia), reasoned about two times (the present war and the war of 30 years ago), took place in two places (in-presence and zoom), and was interested in major psychoanalytic contexts (The individual in his or her own intrapsychic dimension and the individual in the face of social and historical phenomena). The ability to create an elliptical fund of thought, always having at least two poles of interest, allowed multiple experiences and multiple emerging thoughts to be brought into dialogue.
