The project supported the Italian translation of Ivanka Hergold’s short novel Nož in jabolko (Il coltello e la mela – The Knife and the Apple), a work set in Trieste and regarded as one of the most significant expressions of contemporary Slovene literature from the Trieste area. The translation was entrusted to Patrizia Raveggi, an experienced translator specializing in Slovene literature.
To enhance the Italian edition and provide readers with an appropriate critical and historical-literary framework, the volume was complemented by two introductory essays written by Professor Maria Cristina Benussi and the Slovene literary scholar Boris Paternu.
The novel was published in 2024 by the Gorizia-based publishing house Qudulibri, helping to introduce an important work of the Slovene cultural heritage of the region to Italian readers.
