(2022-2024)

As part of the cultural activities organised by the CIF – Centro Italiano Femminile in Trieste and the Fabio Saffi District Library in Trieste, a project entitled “Read a book, get to know a Slovenian author” was launched. The initiative, supported by AIB FVG – the Association of Italian Libraries – Friuli-Venezia Giulia Section, encourages the reading of books by Slovenian authors translated into Italian in schools in Trieste. The project was joined by teachers Roberto Dedenaro and Marco Menato, the Libero Foundation and Zora Polojaz ETS, the Mladika publishing house and the Dušan Černet Library in Trieste.

The Foundation funded the purchase of books by Slovenian authors translated into Italian, which were donated to nurseries, primary and secondary schools in Trieste. The Dušan Černet Library provided copies of books by the writer Alojz Rebula, whilst the Mladika publishing house supplied works by several Slovenian authors from Trieste. Through the events at which we presented the books, we aim to promote intercultural understanding and cooperation, and to strengthen friendship and respect between the city’s various communities. The project coordinator was Elena Cerkvenič Grill.
